Postcards from the Edge: Judaean Wilderness


Several years ago while shooting a documentary about the Dead Sea Scrolls, I had traveled to the cave in Qumran where the scrolls were found by a Bedouin shepherds in 1947. After a full day of shooting and with no further obligations I let serendipity take me down unmarked dirt roads looking for sweeping terrain to shoot stills and B-roll for the documentary. Since that trip, it has become a ritual to wander aimlessly about seeking the unexpected.
